Spring 2009 was an outstanding Striper run and we are expecting another banner one this coming season. We will be Clamming, Chunking, Live Lining, Jigging and Trolling, depending on what the fish are responding to.

A reminder that in 2010 we will be sailing from the Clam Hut Marina, 1 Atlantic St. Highlands

On behalf of Mate Matt and myself we look forward to sailing with you this season. Remember at Sandy Hook Fishing,     "there are no strangers, only friends you have not fished with yet"

 See you in April.

Norm Nelson CharterHad the pleasure of taking Norm Nelson and his daughter Kelda out again for a great day of fishing.
We were greeted by a perfect day, perhaps to perfect. Target was stripers, and after slaughtering them this week spirits were high.Soon as we rounded the hook saw some bird activity between the channels, set up and had shorts stripers.......soon the fleet moved in with boaters busting in on the activity.

Set sail South for some better fishing, found tons of readings of bait but no fish on them, jigged our arms off.
Went in search of some decent marks, traveled near and off shore nothing....did the 2 day blow move the fish out, the moon, or both?

Got calls from a couple of partners and they pretty much had the same.....in fact they gave up and started togging. My folks wanted line siders.

Headed back north and found some sporadic reads, trolled a couple small blues........got word of a bite a bite further north, but alas by the time we arrived it was all but over.
Well put over 49 miles on the boat, stayed out 90 minutes longer than charter was booked for....but if the horse is dead beating it will not bring it back.

Was a tad stressful at some of the activities of other boaters cutting you off while trolling, running over your lines and busting in on building activity, looked like July rather than November. No common sense was a common commodity today.

All in all a beautiful day with to great people, always a pleasure. Norm and Kelda will be back in the spring when Kelda is on spring break.....

11/26 Bass, Blues and Blue Fin on Thanksgiving
Headed out on the Turkey day ritual fishing with Mike, Matt and Jim........Bay was like glass and a light fog. Rounded the hook into some swells but nothing major.

Checked out between the channels and nothing happening. Moved off shore into 70-80 ft of water and started picking at Jumbo Blues to 16 lbs and a few bass.

In a matter of seconds Schoolie Blue Fin were busting around the boat, Mike hooked one on an AVA 27 plain........it only took a few seconds and the reel was spooled.......had nothing on the boat heavy enough for the job. Played with the Blues and Bass while watching the Blue Fin and two pods of Dolphin feeding in the area....great day indeed.

Bite died down and we moved inshore to around 40-35 feet of water found Bass stacked from the bottom up 20 feet.

In short order we had 12 in the box up to 33" (including Bonous Fish), released another 25 or so, along with  several more Jumbo Blues.

Tons of laughs, great fishing and a wonderful display by nature. Does not get any better than that.

Headed back in, cleaned the fish and boat, tosted the day and then went for Turkey Dinner. Day was a 10 out of 10.

Sorry no pic's, daughter took camera to Homecoming Football game as hers was broke

Had Dwayne Garvarndt and friends out again for a day of Bassing. Boys were in rare form and the B Busting started right away. Great conditions greeted us.

As soon as I got to where we wanted to be we had Bass Swirling on the top. Broke out the jigs and started. Was a little slow at first but then the bite started, keepers to 32", short, Blues to 14 lbs.

Chased the fish and jigged for around 3 hrs, boys boated several and threw a lot back.

Bite died and I pulled out the wire and headed east. Again got to where i wanted to be and let the wire out. Lots of knock downs, single, doubles, Keeper Bass, Shorts, choppers.

Finished the day with the jigs, Dave jigged a 24" Fluke.....nice fish.

Boys kept 6 Bass and a few Blues, threw the rest back for another time. Left them biting
